If you have a website, or if you want one, you're also going to need a hosting provider. Even if all you want is email, your going to need a hosting provider. The question therefore is, how to choose a hosting provider for your domain, website & email?
Well, if you use forums or facebook groups, there really doesn't seem to be much in the way of valuable advice. If you ask around, people just start shouting out the typical names we've all heard about for years. Blindly going with the familiar for no apparent reason.
It's a lot like burying your head in the sand.
Why do people do this? I'm afraid that's not only beyond the scope of this article, but my beyond my comprehension.
Not all hosting is the same
Hosting prices are, for the most part, similar. For the most part. However, what you get for your money is not. Most hosting providers restrict what you get, of course, unless your on their top package. Even then there might be some restrictions.
Take WPEngine as an example.
Quite possibly the most expensive hosting I have ever found. I got one of their sales team in a chat window on their home page, and asked why they are so expensive? I was really hoping for some earth shattering technology explanation. Some massively powerful platform that blows the spots off all the competition. Sadly, no. Their platform, in terms of hardware, is virtually identical to 365i. They just charge crazy amounts of money for it. Do people value it more if it costs more? Is that it? It must be?
I pressed the point a little, still hoping there would be some nugget to justify the prices. The sales person ultimately confirmed, no there isn't. Actually, she said, "Um.. our support is really good?".
It would need to be simply astonishing given their prices.
Then there's so many other hosting providers, big names we all know, like SiteGround, Bluehost, TSO Host, Fast Hosts, IONOS, and many more. All with restricted bandwidth, restricted traffic, restricted memory, or tiny mailboxes. But people are used to going blindly to the hosting provider their used too.
Why not get yourself a better deal! Get yourself unlimited hosting! With huge mailboxes, and unmetered bandwidth and traffic. Why not go with a host that's actually going to improve your website, it's speed, and be there for you with any help you might need.
The costs are what your used too; but the hosting and support are so much better than what your used too. Don't bury your head in the sand, get your hosting at 365i
